Frequently Asked Questions

Before you book your photo session with Laura Funk Photography of Athens, AL, here are some common questions and answers to help you prepare and ensure you have the best experience possible.

Will you capture posed family photos during our session?

Being a lifestyle family photographer, I will not do many actual “poses”. My goal is to get pictures of your family or senior relaxed and having fun. Catching a candid shot of someone with their true smile is my ultimate goal.

Do you have a studio?

Not at this time, there are many beautiful locations in Northern Alabama. Lifestyle family photography can be in your home, somewhere on your property, or at a favorite park, urban setting, etc.

What should we wear for our photos?

This question is also good for seniors! Wear what you feel comfortable in and you feel shows the real you. Favorite clothing will allow your confidence to shine through. If you want your family group to coordinate that is great, there are lots of ideas on Pinterest. You decide the tone of your pictures with your clothing, it’s your choice!

What about getting a “tan” or haircut before pictures?

Before your session you should be cautious of tanning or getting sunburned, your photos will appear darker than you usually appear. Also, if you need to get a haircut, do that about 1 week before the session, you want your new cut to not look brand new. I want everyone to feel as confident as possible.

Will you edit the photos?

Yes! I am a natural photographer and will do light editing and remove non-permanent marks as needed.

Can we bring something special with us for photos?

Absolutely! I want your photographs to be special to you, feel free to bring whatever you want included in your photos.

What if we need to reschedule?

Not a problem, life happens. The weather can be bad, an unforeseen circumstance can conflict with your scheduled photo session. I am happy to reschedule!

How long until we get our photos back?

All sessions will get photos within 2 weeks from the session date. If you sign the model release and approve, you will get a link to your sneak peek blog post within 3 days after your session. The sneak peek includes about 5 photos from your session. You can share this on social media or share the link with friends and family. Your gallery will be delivered via email where you can download your full gallery with one click.

Can we purchase prints, canvases and other photo products?

Yes! I offer an easy and convenient way to order directly from your caller. I offer high-quality, affordable, quality prints, enlargements, canvases and other items. These items are printed at a professional photo lab.

What if we want to keep our images private?

Not a problem! These are YOUR photos. If you want to keep them private and not shown on social media, I fully understand and respect that. During the booking process, you will find a model release. You can decline to share and I will honor your request.

Can I customize my senior session?

Absolutely! Senior year is fun and pictures should be part of the fun. I like to communicate with my seniors before the session. I want to know what kind of activities or sports you want to include in your pictures. A special location? If you want to have pictures done in more than one location we can discuss that also. Pricing will vary for multiple locations.

Do you take senior drape pictures?

Not at this time. Local schools have programs set up for students to get the required photos for the year book. Please check with your school for information.

Whatever type of photographs I am capturing for you remember, relax and have fun! Don’t worry if the kids are acting crazy, your senior wants only a few pictures, or the dog is acting wild. Slow down, we will work with what we have happening and you will have beautiful photographs to treasure.
