I’m Laura, of Laura Funk Photography, located in Athens, Alabama. I enjoy photographing families and seniors in Northern Alabama. Our families have a story and those stories deserve beautiful photos to document those special moments for years to come. I look forward to talking with you to hear your vision of family and senior photographs. It will be an honor to document your special story.
Photography has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. My Dad was the family photographer. Pictures were an important part of my family life. Once I got married and started raising my family, I continued the tradition of taking pictures of my family. The importance of documenting my family’s story is still very important to me. My years of experience with taking pictures of my family and friends has inspired me to share my love of photography to capture beautiful stories through photography.

Before you book your photo session with Laura here are some common questions to ask before choosing a photographer…
Will you capture posed family photos during our session?
Yes, we will do some poses. We will also take pictures of you having fun. My goal is to get pictures of your family or senior relaxed and having fun. Catching a great shot of someone with their true smile is always my ultimate goal.
Do you have a studio?
Not at this time, there are many beautiful locations in Northern Alabama. Lifestyle family photography can be in your home, somewhere on your property, or at a favorite park, Urban setting, etc.
What should we wear for our photos?
This question is also good for seniors! Wear what you feel comfortable in and you feel shows the real you. Favorite clothing will allow your confidence to shine through. If you want your family group to coordinate that is great, there are lots of ideas on Pinterest. You decide the tone of your pictures with your clothing, it’s your choice!
What about getting a “tan” or haircut before pictures?
Before your session you should be cautious of tanning or getting
sunburned, your photos will appear darker than you usually appear. Also, if you need to get a haircut, do that about 1 week before the session, you want your new cut to not look brand new. I want everyone to feel as confident as possible.
Will you edit the photos?
Yes! I will do basic light editing. I am a body-positive portrait photographer and believe everyone is beautiful.
Will Props be Provided?
Not usually, there may be props for some of the themed mini sessions. If you have something special you would like to have included in your pictures please feel free to bring it along.
What if we need to reschedule?
Not a problem, life happens. The weather can be bad, an unforeseen circumstance can conflict with your scheduled photo session. I am happy to reschedule!
How long until we get our photos back?
All sessions will get photos within 2 weeks from the session date. If you sign the model release and approve, you will get a link to your sneak peek blog post within 3 days after your session. The sneak peek includes about 5 photos from your session. You can share this on social media or share the link with friends and family. Your gallery will be delivered via email where you can download your full gallery with one click.
Can we purchase prints, canvases and other photo products?
Yes! I offer an easy and convenient way to order directly from your gallery. I offer high-quality, affordable, quality prints, enlargements, canvases and other items. These items are printed at a professional photo lab.
What if we want to keep our images private?
Not a problem! These are YOUR photos. If you want to keep them private and not shown on social media, I fully understand and respect that. During the booking process, you will find a model release. You can decline to share and I will honor your request.
Can I customize my senior session?
Absolutely! Senior year is fun and pictures should be part of the fun. I like to communicate with my seniors before the session. I want to know what kind of activities or sports you want to include in your pictures. A special location? If you want to have pictures done in more than one location we can discuss that also. Pricing will vary for multiple locations.
Do you take senior drape pictures?
Not at this time. I understand that many schools have an arrangement with a specific photographer for these photos. Please check with your school for information on this year book requirement.
Whatever type of photographs I am capturing for you remember, relax and have fun! Don’t worry if the kids are acting crazy, your senior wants only a few pictures, or the dog is acting wild. Slow down, we will work with what we have happening and you will have beautiful photographs to treasure.
